SURFING
Imagine yourself in some of the best and uncrowded surf spots in Baja, spending the day in the water and leaving all your problems behind. Baja has everything a surfer can ask for, from great weather, clean waves, a vast variety of breaks for all levels, a relaxed environment, very friendly locals, amazing food, cheap beers, cheap Tequila, and above all, year-round first class surfing conditions along the hundreds of kilometres of coastline. Southern Baja California has some of the best surf in the peninsula, particularly on a strong south, southwest and big north swells.
During the summer period, swells generally range from south to southwest and bring warm water and warm air with head to overhead high waves all around the peninsula (including Sea of Cortes)
During the winter period, swells generally come from the west or northwest, making all the Pacific coast light up and are fairly consistent with head to double overhead waves. In the Pacific side the water temperature is warm most of the year, though in the mornings through the winter months (January – April), due to the Aleutian Current a 3/2-inch wetsuit is recommended since the cold offshore desert wind reduces the atmospheric temperature.
